Video Biography of Mary, 88

Mary fondly remembers her brothers, who would bring friends home to play, occasionally letting the girls join in when they were short on players.

Mary graduated high school in 1945, during the somber years of World War II. She recalls the emotional impact of seeing her male classmates leave for the war. A touching memory involves a visit to her brother stationed at Fort Sheridan in Highwood. With special permission from their school nuns, Mary and her sisters took the train to see him. During their visit, he gifted them each a cashmere sweater from Scotland—a moment Mary treasures to this day.
